Challenging Terrain

Image
Some of the property we are hired to clear can present challenges to equipment such as tractors because of how steep a ravine, a hillside or the slope around the pond might be.  Other areas present challenges because they are difficult to navigate especially if there many trees or dense vegetation. One of the advantages of our skid steer (Cat 299D XHP) is its ability to maneuver up and down steep hillsides or in tight spaces while delivering the power necessary to get the job done. In the short video posted with this blog, the angle of the hillside I was working was significant enough that simply looking straight out of the cab , the sky is clearly in view! Livestock Safety

Image
One of the things I enjoy about clearing property are the opportunities to see a diversity of livestock roaming about.  Cows, horses, sheep, lamas, chickens... you name it, we've helped to give them more areas to graze!    It's often that many of them mistake our rig for "feeding time" when we show up early in the morning to get started and they walk, mosey or run up to us in great anticipation of being fed.  They seem puzzled after a while, perhaps even a little upset that we didn't bring them something to eat!  Nevertheless, their hunger is overcome with curiosity and they venture closer, some brave enough to come right up to us.  Knowing the value of livestock, we are very careful to consider their whereabouts while working.  In most cases, the moment we fire up our forestry mulcher, they quickly depart to other areas of the property where the grass appears greener at that moment.  For more information about our land clearing a...

Machine vs. Muscle

Image
It's often that by the time a customer contacts us to clear their land, we find they have have already invested significant time and effort utilizing muscle, chain saws, branch cutters, brush hogs, tractors and any other tool or piece of equipment they can find that will assist in their efforts to reclaim their property.   It's difficult to estimate the amount of time, cuts, bruises and expense the customer has spent and often very little progress to show for all their efforts. In a matter of moments, once they see our SS Eco Forestry Mulcher in action, they quickly realize they are about to see a tremendous amount of progress in a very short period of time.  One of our most recent customers, Jesse Walters, said it best, "they did more in two (2) days, then I have done in six (6) years!" We estimate up to a 20% return on the monies invested in our land clearing and land reclamation services.  That's a significant return in just a few days! Contact us today...

Unwanted Brush Piles

Image
My partner and I were working a site this week about 10 miles west of Henryetta, OK.  Prior to our arrival, the land owners had rented a bulldozer to do some clearing and I was reminded why mulching (technical term is "Forestry Mastication") is so much better than using a dozer for general land clearing purposes. The benefits of this process are many: Significantly less top soil disturbance Less time required to use the property as desired The mulch creates a compost enriching the soil beneath Slows the return of unwanted vegetation The use of specialized equipment enables operation on any sized acreage as well as in smaller spaces or more difficult terrain Unlike the use of bulldozers, there are no unsightly piles of tree debris and dirt that remain for years or the added expense to have them burned or removed In addition to the numerous unsightly brush piles from clearing about 5 acres, there were still more than an acre's worth of sapling ...

Mulcher vs. Bulldozer

Image
The idea of mulching instead of bulldozing to clear property is still new to most property owners.  I came across this article published by the Land Management & Resource Recovery Service devoted to the restoration and recovery of land in an eco-friendly way.  It provides a great deal of information about the way we approach land clearing and reclamation. https://www.voglerllc.com/feature-forestry-mulching/

Early Morning Sunrise

Image
We get started pretty early on most jobs.  Sometimes we catch the most beautiful sunrises while preparing our CAT 299D XHP for the job ahead.  Today, we are clearing the land on  a two acre hillside covered with  brush, saplings, sumac and cedar trees .
